495 days from now I will set out on a life changing journey – a journey across the United States from my home in Texas to Alaska. I joined Texas 4000, a leadership development and charity organization that aims to engage communities in the fight against cancer, in order to take my knowledge, skills, and passions beyond this great state (shameless Texas plug) to the families and communities in need of encouragement and support.
I am just beginning to wrap my head around what an awesome and scary commitment I’ve gotten myself into… I’m seriously going to ride a bike 4,500 miles just to kick cancer in the butt?! I hope this series in my blog will help me not only record the next 18 months of adventure, but also help me learn and process this experience so that I can grow and change as a person.
This is me, the night I found out I’d been accepted to the Texas 4000 2017 Team!

May I run my race well to the glory of my Lord with faith and passion so that He alone may be praised!
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”
